HWM Malaysia Turns 9!

It was an evening of good food, great company and entertainment as HWM Malaysia celebrated its 9th anniversary at the KL Hilton ballroom in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, on November 24, 2011.

Among the esteemed guests present on this special occasion was the Malaysian Ministry of Finance II, YB Dato' Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, who graced the evening and also delivered the welcome address alongside Terence Stephen, Editor-in-Chief of HWM Malaysia and Michael Lee, General Manager of Property Management & Operations, Low Yat and Sons Realty.

Like the years before it, the anniversary also coincided with the HWM & Plaza Low Yat Brand Survey Awards 2011, which continues the tradition of honoring the leading tech brands in Malaysia, as chosen by HWM readers who participated in the survey via forms that were bundled in the magazine, online survey at, as well as at PIKOM PC Fair and Plaza Low Yat.

Of the 30 product categories in the survey, a total of 51 brands made it into the 'top three', with the winning brands representing HWM readers' most voted favorites in the respective sections of the magazine: Communications, CE/AV, Computers and SMB.

Representatives from Sony Malaysia were in attendance, including Corporate Communications Manager Connie Goh and Deputy General Manager Masaki Matsumae

Based on the results, super brands like Canon, HP, Samsung and Sony are clear favorites among the maturing consumers, while popular brands like ASUS, Apple and HTC have no doubt left an indelible mark on our respondents' mindsets. However, it must be noted that the movements in the second and third placements should prove for an interesting survey next year.
